Hello? 9-9-9? What Should I Say?

When calling 9-9-9, speak slowly and clearly. Be ready to give the dispatcher the following information:

  • The person’s location
  • The number you are calling from and your name
  • A brief account of what happened
  • The number of people needing help and any special conditions at the scene
  • A description of the person’s condition and what is being done

Do not hang up until the dispatcher tells you to do so. Stay with the person needing help until EMS / help arrives.
