BASIC LIFE SUPPORT, CPR & AED

Course Overview

First Aid means the initial help that is delivered to the sick and injured by the first responder before the arrival of healthcare personnel. Albeit it might seem simple, these immediate skills may determine the difference between life and death and many more. Basic life support (BLS) is a level of medical care which is used for victims of life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they can be given full medical care at a hospital. It can be provided by trained medical personnel, including emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and by qualified bystanders.

This one day comprehensive training will emphasize on the emergency procedure that can be carried out immediately if there is any injury or sickness happen in the workplace. This is a highly hands on training with plenty of practical sessions. Participants will explore the common cardiovascular and other body systems that are responsible for the death in Malaysia. The importance of defibrillation in reviving the victim will also be taught thus, familiarizing themselves with the defibrillator. These sessions in addition to the standard first aid skills will enable them to be prepared in carrying out their role as a First Aider.

Course Objective

Completing the course, participants will be able to:

  • Appreciate the new science and education from the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC
  • Understands the components of high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • The AHA Chain of Survival for pre-hospital
  • Understands the importance of early use of an AED
  • Provide effective ventilations using a barrier device
  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
  • Perform basic bandaging and splinting skills

Training Approach and Methodologies

A comprehensive blend between the Theory and Practical session in which half of the time, the participant will be on the run. With the help of multimedia presentation e.g. slides show, video clips and lively and humorous presentation from our trainers, participants are guaranteed a fun, refreshing yet informative training experience. Sufficient practical material for each and every participant will make sure every of them have a hands on experience to acquire the skills needed to perform the life saving task.

Assessment

Participants are required to attend for theory and practical session with 100% attendance for eligibility of certificate

Certification

Having completed the course, participants will be awarded with Certificate of Training.

FIRST AID AWARENESS

Course Overview

Do you ever encounter or watch someone compressing the chest of a casualty or bandaging a bleeding case? Ever wondered of how do they know what and when to do so? This talk is specially designed to introduce the candidate the value and importance of First Aid knowledge; a simple set of skills which can save life. It is also intended to help raise safety standards and awareness as well as preparing participants on how to manage emergencies adequately effective. First Aid means the initial help that is delivered to the sick and injured by the first responder before the arrival of healthcare personnel. Albeit it might seem simple, these immediate skills may determine the difference between life and death if the essential skills regarding bleeding control being correctly applied as soon as possible.
This 4 hours awareness talk will be covering the key element of first aid and its related crucial topics. Apart from theoretical discussion, participants would get a clearer understanding of the topics covered through the demonstration and short practical conducted.

Course Objective

Upon completion of the talk, participants will be able to:

BASIC OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID, CPR & AED

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) are two key elements of the Basic Life Support (BLS) discipline. The Program Highlight – Lifelike Mock Drill

After going through all the theory and practical sessions, participants will be exposed to a few real-like mock-drill stations (scenario based) which are created where multiple injuries will be seen such as bleeding, amputation, penetrating would, fracture, burn, scald and spine injuries.

Participants will be asked to perform first aid treatment for the injuries and a lot of hands-on experience will be gained throughout the drill. This is the real test that makes the participant a competent First Aider.

FIRST AID & CPR PRACTICAL REFRESHER

Course Overview

The forgetting curve hypothesizes the decline of memory retention in time and one study shows that the first aider will have difficulty in recalling their training after 3 months has passed. Therefore, a practical refresher would be an excellent booster for the previously acquired first aid skills. This one day comprehensive training will emphasize on the essential first aid skills as well as the core of basic life support (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) that can be carried out immediately if there is any injury or sickness happen in the workplace.

Completing the course, participants will be able to:

  • Revise and perform the D.R.C.A.B steps in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

  • Know how to handle a suspected spinal injury with the correct updated techniques
  • Able to experience and being evaluated on their own performance in a real-like simulation incident scenarios
